Remembering There and Back Again Link-up - The Battle of the Five Armies

One Last Time.
Better late than never. . .we will proceed.

Favourite Character
Myrtle: All I've said so far.
Les: (see above)
S. F.: Still the same as it was before.

Favourite Actor
Myrtle: ...
Les: (Myrtle voices my thoughts precisely!)
S. F.: One does not simply choose a favourite actor. :)

Favourite Actress
Myrtle:All the females.
Les: The Nesbitt sisters, Cate Blanchett, and Evangeline Lilly all performed excellently.
S. F.: ^ Basically. ^

Favourite Quote/Line
Myrtle:" You have but one question to answer: how will this day end?" ~Gandalf (from trailer)
Les: "Uh, if any of you are ever passing Bag End, uh... tea is at four, there's plenty of it. You are welcome anytime. Oh ah... don't bother knocking." ~ Bilbo to the company ere he embarks on the home journey
S. F.: "One day it'll grow, and every time I'll look at it I'll remember. The good, the bad... And how lucky I am that I made it home." ~Bilbo
And "I have no right to ask this of any of you, but will you follow me...One Last Time?" ~Thorin

Favourite Soundtrack
Myrtle: I really don't know what to put.
Les: (Thank you again, dear Myrtle!)
S. F.: In all honestly, I haven't listened to much of the soundtrack except for during the movie. I'm not sure if I have a favourite, but I can sum it all up in two words "Nope" and "Feels".

Favourite Friendship
Myrtle:Fili /Kili, Sigrid/Tilda/Bain/Bard.
Les: (see previous answers)
S. F.:Yes, I, too, loved the family relationships. And we saw the "climax" of the friendship between Bilbo and Thorin and the rest of the company. It was very touching!

Favourite Costume
Myrtle:The Company's armour.
Les: The mithril shirt!
S. F.: Myrtle and Les have already listed some of my favourites. I also liked Bilbo's return outfit (with all his gear, etc.)

Favourite Weapon
Myrtle:Bain's Sword, Black Arrow. Sorry, Smaug.
Les: Bain's sword, Thranduil's swords, and Orcrist.
S. F.: Sting.

Favourite Minor-Character
Myrtle:Hilda Bianca.
Les: Bard's children again.
S. F.: The hobbits at the auction. :)

Favourite Scene
Myrtle: I can tell you my least favourites!
I have little bits from different scenes that I like: "Look at me.", Tilda using self defense on Alfrid (link), the elves jumping over the dwarves backs, Thorin giving Mithril to Bilbo.
Les: When Bilbo returns to Bag End and sees his forgotten pocket handkerchiefs on the floor...that was such a lovely touch.
S. F.: There were indeed special moments in this film that made the whole journey worth it, but if I was asked to pick my one favourite scene, it would probably be the acorn scene. For one thing, Thorin SMILED! And it showed that, even though he had gone through ruff adventures, Bilbo was still only a humble little hobbit. -->
"But where our hearts truly lie is in peace and quiet, and good tilled earth. For all Hobbits share a love of things that grow." (~ Bilbo in Fellowship pf the Ring.)

Favourite Screen Shot
Myrtle:

Les
one of few such heartwarming, happy moments in the film~

S. F.:

. . .Back again

Favourite Location
Myrtle:The woods outside Hobbiton, and Hobbiton itself.
Les: Woods outside Hobbiton! Yes, yes! Happy sunlight and beautiful trees. Also, HERE.
S. F.: Same. Hobbiton is obviously my favourite, but it I loved it even more after all the previous gloominess.

Did You Cry?
Myrtle:Why,YES I DID.
Les: (see above and below)
S. F.: Did I cry? Yes, I most definitely DID. The first time I cried was when it said "The Hobbit" and I was still sniffling as we walked out of the cinema. Add lots of tears sprinkled throughout the whole film, and you can be sure I was glad I didn't forget my pocket handkerchief!
Did You Dress Up As Anything?
Myrtle: Sigrid!
Les: Bain son of Bard.
S. F.:Tilda!

Did You Watch it at a Theater?
All: Yes!

What Are Your Personal Thoughts on the Movie?
Myrtle: I was hoping Bilbo or Gandalf would say something to mend my broken heart when they're sitting together after "it" happened! And someone needs to make a movie about Middle Earth after-life!!!!
Les: I quite agree with what Myrtle said. Moments of light and warmth were cherished as they made me feel very good, so I tried to focus on them in the midst of far less pleasant events. All in all, I thank goodness that we can believe in happy endings! ☺
S. F.: I'm not sure what to say. I have lots of thoughts on this movies. It was a very emotional "One Last Time" journey to dear Middle-earth. It tied up many loose threads, but left several dangling for the continuation in LOTR. When I came home from watching it, I felt very much like Bilbo. I was not the same as the wondering girl who watched AUJ. I had gone there and back again.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.

Dwarves are brave and loyal. They are persistent, prideful, and will fight to defend their brotherhood. The battle-axe is their weapon of choice. They love gold/treasure."

Happy Birthday, Tolkien / One Last Time Q&A

 Hullo there. Today happens to be the 123rd of J. R. R. Tolkien!

 I'm not sure who made this, but I love it and agree with the saying at the end:

Also, Sarah awarded us the "One Last Time Q&A". Thank you so much, Sarah!

R U L E S
1. You Must be tagged to take the Q&A quiz
2. You must tag (notify) at least three other bloggers (or whatever they are on) for this Q&A
3. You must answer the following questions to the best of your ability
4. You must have seen The Battle of the Five Armies to be tagged/take the quiz

Q U E S T I O N S

 1. Tell your story of how you came to see the movie(s) or got into Tolkien in the first place.
 Myrtle: I was a wee lass, my father put on The Fellowship of The Ring, we were watching Bilbo's birthday party, and I thought: People having a party.
  Yyyess. (You know how Bilbo says it)

Les: Once upon a time, I turned the leaves of an ancient book unto one
titled, "The Elf-Dragon." And you beheld it, and that was my story. Enda.

S. F.: Oh, Middle-earth has pretty much always been in my life. In fact, I have been told that when we were watching "The Two Towers" along time ago, I turned around to my parents after watching Gollum and said to them, "My precious!" :)

2. Who are your three favourite characters in The Hobbit Trilogy?
Myrtle: That's like: What's your favourite, Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner?

Les: My eyes were cheated by some spell when first I glanced over
this question. I mistook a little "deaths" between "characters" & "the"
And that did not make my sisters' answers any more cohesive.
But then I read the question. Hmm. Favourite character trios:
Thorin & Nephews + Thranduil & Son & Tauriel + Bard & Family
...with a dragon and every other elf included for good measure.

S. F: What? This is a hard question. *cough, cough* *scratches head* Bilbo. . .Thorin. . .FiliKili. <- They can count as one character, can't they?

3. Did you cry in The Battle of the Five Armies, and if so, which scene(s) and what type (sniffling, sobbing, choke-crying)?
 Myrtle:  Bain and Bard gave me the feels,but I didn't cry. With Fili, I tryed to cry, but the tears would'nt come, neither with Kili. Inside, however,... well you know; you've felt it. I turned my head when Thorin ... was ... given the fatal ..............
'twas, of course, Master Baggins' first, heart-wrenching, breaking sob, that drew my tears. No sobs. Just tears. I bear my scars inside. My biggest cry was the end credits; I saw Les and S.F. sobbing, and quietly followed them, One Last Time.

Les: By all means. That is why I accepted bringing a very comforting pocket handkerchief with me to yonder cinema.
Response to № 2: when Bain came to his father's aid + Durin's Sons passed into the Timeless Halls + many other occurences.
The ilk of tears: all of the above, most strongly in the mentioned scenes. To say nothing of my weeping on S.F.'s shoulder and snuggling under her arm and pulling away when...Kili...and bowing my head in sobs...and sometimes vocalising queer squeaks and chokes. Bilbo rent my heart. I entirely understand not why, yet Thranduil provoked me to much pity and sorrow as well.
Let us stay away from what the end credits song did, darling.

S. F.: A LOT. Tears came to my eyes when it said "The Hobbit", Bard and Bain made me sniffle, Smaug made me sob, Bilbo's acorn scene made me cry hard, the "One Last Time" scene started tears that basically didn't stop until the credits were over, Fili's you-know-what had me screeching into my pocket handkerchief, Kili's you-know-what had me choking up, and Thorin's you-know-what was a mixture of both and many tears. And Hobbiton/the Hobbit theme/Bilbo and the Last Goodbye made me CRY.. Did I cry? Yup.

4. Were the deaths compelling to you, and if so, whose?
Myrtle: Yes. Our
Les: The above, the below. Although some felt—including Smaug's—rushed.

S. F.: All of the Durins were, I can't pick just one.

5. Overall, were you satisfied with the movie itself?
Myrtle: I do not know what "Satisfied" means right here. I CRIED. And I need a movie about Arda's afterlife.

Les: To Myrtle I gratefully say, Gi hannon! Already doth my minde compose happier endings.
I offer thanks unto Sir Peter & his company for the long and dedicated journey they took us on.

S. F.: Absolutely. Thank you so much, Sir Peter Jackson and Co.!

6. Describe the movie in one word.
Myrtle: I don't know if that is doable. But then again, mayhaps it is.

Les: Enmeshed-with-emotions.

S. F.: NOPE. Also, epic. Also, majestic. Also, emotional. You see? "One does not simply choose one word to describe BOTFA."

WE NOMINATE. . .

Kara
SW
and anyone else following this blog who hasn't been nominated for this yet!

Until next time,
S. F. and all of us 3FS!

We Must Away Ere Brake of Day

Happy late Christmas, fangirling friends!

Today is the day my sisters and I make our journey to the cinema to watch the Defining Chapter "One Last Time."

See you when we come back, if we are still able to function.
~ S. F.
ps.-- "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" is the #1 movie in the world!

THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES

We've come to it at last.
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
Today this film of mixed emotions comes to cinemas.
We have made it. Counting down countless days and more days. And now, you know what?
It's here.
 * * * * * * * * * *
 "Will you follow me. . .One Last Time?"
  "I will not say 'Do not weep' for not all tears are evil."

With fangirlings and Feels and whatever else,
 I remain,

First off, lets all give each other and ourselves a pat on the back. We have all remained sane (for the most part) these through the long, long wait. And guess what? Cinco more days.
Five days.
One hundred and twenty hours.
7,200 minuets.
432000 seconds.
4.32e+8 milliseconds.
4.32e+11 microseconds.
4.32e+14 nanoseconds.
(A little less than that because it's later on in the day.)
(Yes, Les did do this a year ago. Thank you for the idea, sister! ☺)

"The Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies" Count-down Calendar

With 11 days to go until TH:TBOTFA, we should do something special to count down, shouldn't we? Well, here you are. Here is a count-down calendar you can make. I made ours when we had 20 days left, but you can make yours starting now. It's not very hard to make, believe me. Therefore, we shall proceed.

Step one: Find a piece of thick cardboard (picture 1) and either a piece of thin cardboard or thick card stock (picture 2).

Step two: Cut your thinner material to however big you want to make your count down calendar. (Ours is about 9 inches by 15 inches.) Then place your thinner stuff on your thicker stuff and trace it (first half of the picture.) Once you have, take the thinner card board off (second half of the picture.)

Step three: Cut the traced shape out of the thicker card board with a knife (or whatever you cut things out with.) ☺

Here they are cut out~

Step four: Now for the fun part. Select the pictures you're going to use. (We used character posters {below} and other screen shots from the trailers.) You could draw them if you wanted to, but we just printed them out. Make sure that you have a picture for each day and that they're small enough to fit on the card board.

Step 5: (No picture.) Arrange where the pictures will go and what exiting picture will be the one for the day it comes out. Then glue them on to the cardboard.

Step 6: Out of the thinner card board cut shapes to fit over the pictures and write on the back what day it covers. Once you have all of them cut out, turn them over and tape them on at the top, making sure they can lift up.

Step 7: (In this picture you can see how I did step 6). Alright, now tape each flap shut.

Step 8: You can decorate it all fancy if you want, but we didn't. :) Although I did add this message. . .

Step 9: Write the amount of day left on each flap, and "THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES" on the last one.

Step 10: I think that's it. You're done!

I hope that this makes sense. If not, you can ask questions in a comment. There remains one more thing to do: go make yours! And have fun with it.

Be patient. ELEVEN DAYS.
~ S. F.

Two Weeks (Minus a Day)

Hello, lovelies! I was going to post this yesterday, but I wasn't able to. Ohhh weeeel. :) As I am at a bit of a loss for words (Thirteen days? HELP!), I will just repeat what Les said when we were two weeks until D. o. S.:

There.  That was well said, sister. Ehehehe.
And now, some more gifs that describe us waiting~

We're as mad as Smaug.
We're saying "No, no, no, no, no!"
We're not sure if we can bare it.
We make these expressions whilst watching the trailers.
Yup. :)
We fell like this on the inside.
We're NOT. LISTENING.
Keep waiting, friends. It will be worth it.
~ S. F.

ps.--did any one else see the premier?

Twenty Five to Go

Where do the days go? The wait continues. We must be patient. We must wait. We must prepare to follow one last time.
Has every one seen the soundtrack titles for The Battle of the Five Armies? If not, here they are (along with a little bit of what I think about them):

Disc One
1. Fire and Water {Is this how the movie's going to start?}
2. Shores of the Long Lake {Who-what-when-where-why?}
3. Beyond Sorrow and Grief {What do you mean? What's going on?}
4. Guardians of the Three {"The Three" . . . the three what?}
5. The Ruins of Dale {Bard going though Dale or something is my guess, but most likely I am wrong.}
6. The Gathering of the Clouds {How different will it be from the book?}
7. Mithril {I will admit that I am really excited for Bilbo to receive his Mithril shirt. ☺}
8. Bred for War {Is this were "We will have WAR" happens? It does not sound good.}
9. A Thief In the Night {Any one else worried about this?}
10. The Clouds Burst {I will refrain from asking a question here, because I have asked too many. *sigh* Help.}
11. Battle for the Mountain {Uh-uh! Noo. No. Help us all.}
 Disc Two
1. The Darkest Hour {...Is just before dawn? What is going to happen?!}
2. Sons of Durin {. . . •-• . . . o.O . . .}
3. The Fallen {NOPE. Bad. NOPE. Don't think about it. Not listening. Not listening.}
4. Ravenhill {Do you think they'll have ravens to go with Ravenhill? I hope so.}
5. To the Death {Ohhh...no, no, no...oh dear...}
6. Courage and Wisdom {This is making me think of Bilbo. And probably Thorin. And you know what that means if you have read the book.}
7. The Return Journey {*Sniff, sniff* I want to cry at the moment.}
8. There and Back Again {Hobbit feels. FEELS.}
9. The Last Goodbye {Have you listened to it or read the lyrics? Les listened to some and she said it is horrible. I've had some of the lyrics read to me and. . .owwwwww. . .feeeeeellllllsssss. . .}
10. Ironfoot {What do you suppose Dain will be like? I'm not sure what to think of him now, but after I've watched it then we shall see.}
11. Dragon-sickness {Thorin. . .*whimpers*}
12. Thrain [From The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition] {That is interesting.}

Be strong and patient and fabulous and majestic and epic and be YOU.
~ S. F.

ps.--the post from when it was 25 days until D. o. S. is darling. After we watch B. o. t. F. A. we will be like Bard's family again.

17.11.14

One Month. One Last Time.

"If this is to end in fire, then we will all burn together."
"Will you follow me, one last time?"

Is it just me, or does Thorin have some epic quotes?
The end draws nigh. We have but thirty more days.
Someone help us.
One month.
One last time.
One ring to rule them all.
~ S. F.

What character poster's your favourite?

Official Trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The Official Trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies = NO.
Most of you have already watched it, but if you haven't, I don't know if I should tell you to or tell you not to. It is not okay.

I mean, look at the image it shows before you click play of Thorin. Look at the look in his eye! Does any one else want to go shake Thorin really hard and make him see what he's become? Though there's that one heart braking shot of him with Kili and they're both smiling. . .
Speaking of Kili-- no, wait, I don't think you want to get me started on Fili (why did we barely see any Fili?!) and Kili or this post would most likely never finish.

Bilbo mace me want to cry. Why shouldn't he? He's a hobbit who likes a quiet life and here he is talking about war? That is not okay!

The Mirkwood elves. . .I just. . .I mean. . .no, no, no.

The White Council . . . what is going on?

Bard. . .what? What?!

Everyone and everything else. . .Nope.

There you go. That is my review thing. I don't know what December 17th holds for us, but. . .no...

~ S.  F.

ps.-- when I clicked on the trailer on YouTube, it said that it couldn't be watched with Safety Mode on. Smart thing.

pps.-- these posters are not okay~
