This day in 1973, our beloved Professor John Ronald Reuel Tolkien passed "Into the West."
Thank you so much for blessing the many lives with your stories and for encouraging us to make the difference.
And all will turn
To silver glass.
A light on the water,
Grey ships pass
Into the West.

O_O D'awwww=D What would we have done without him?????????????????????????????????????????????????
ReplyDeleteDon't know, but I would be so different is there was no Middle-earth! So different that it's scary to think about. :)

There beyond the Grey Havens and onto the Undying Shore he rests, he walks in the starlight he gave his Elves love for, he watches far away the wee hobbits gathering mushrooms for second breakfast, he remembers the soldiers of Gondor and Rohan, he reflects on the courage of Bilbo Baggins, he does this and more.
ReplyDeleteBless you, Professor Tolkien. Your memory in our hearts is as bright as the beacon of Minas Tirith. <3
*sniff, sniff* now that's a mushy comment, Les. *sniff, sniff* I love it, you dear. Echoing Lily, "Bless that comment." You're brilliant.

Bless that comment Les ^^^
ReplyDeleteAww, our beloved Professor. He now walks in starlight in another world. :)
Anyway, thanks to pinterest I have found this remarkable and slightly scary gem. Here goes!
So, Tolkien died in 1973. Reverse that and you get 3791.
"THREE rings for the elven kings under the sky,
SEVEN for the dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
NINE for mortal men doomed to die,
ONE for the Dark Lord on his dark throne."
^^I CANNOT HANDLE THE EPIC
This is actually frightening
What. No. I mean. That is frightening. O.o And epic. And scary. Thank you for sharing, Lily. :)
